Once you have done the initial stages of developing an action plan for building your online presence there are 5 main components that you will need to do to create momentum. The components are:

Website Design – There are a variety of ways someone can design a website, such as by scratch, html file (building a website line by line using html codes), using a pre-made theme and making changes to the outer appearance, ftp file (this also requires making changes in lines of code), css file (this can allow you to make a website responsive or moving things around such as Social icons, search bar and more).

Website maintenance – there are common platforms, such as Wordpress themes, Drupal, Blogger, ftp and css. If you have a current website and you need it maintained it's important to know which type you have.

Sometimes a minor change has a lot of work involved within the ftp or css file. If you're not familiar with how it works you may think it could take 15 minutes to change but it could actually take a few hours depending on the difficulty of finding it. For example, some website themes will not allow you to move things around within the ftp or css file or coding.

Copywriting - it is very important that you trust the person that will be doing this for you and that they are trustworthy to be producing content for you. Why? If you're not careful some content writers will copy and paste from other websites and submit it as their own work. If you put that on your website it will make your business look bad, it will be plagiarism and could have a negative effect on the search engine ranking for your business.

On top of that some writers will find content, put it in a content spinner and pass it off as their own. The outcome of the article looks awful, it doesn't flow and it isn't search engine friendly.

Blog writing – If someone is writing blog content for you, you will need to decide if you want them to write an article from scratch or curate an article. Curating means they will find an article on the topic you want written, they will copy and paste part of the article on the blog they'll be writing and put a commentary on what they read.

If they're curating content for you, they need say who the source is and preferably put a backlink to the source. It is necessary that they put the quotations around the words they copy and paste. By placing quotation marks it will tell search engines that you're quoting someone not stealing their content.

SEO and Social Media marketing – when you're trying to rank higher on search engines it's important to know that with the Google Algorithm changes that have been made they take into consideration your Social Media activity. That means if you're getting compared to a business similar to yours but your business doesn't have a social media presence and their business is very social, they're more likely going to rank higher than your business on search engines, organically.
