As an SEO expert it is important to continue conducting research to learn what other marketers are experiencing along with tips of how to improve our marketing efforts on behalf of our clients.

As I was conducting research I came across this article written by Susanna Gebauer and would like to give my comments regarding parts I felt were important to highlight for my readers.

Measuring Success through Reach

The goal of most businesses is to have people do 'word of mouth' advertising. This is when somebody likes your product or service so much that they decide to tell other people about it. They are the ones to try to convince their family, friends and associates about what your business has to offer. Some people are more likely to purchase a product or service if they have heard from someone else (that they know) the type of experience they had.

Here's what Sonia has to say:

Reach

A post on social media gets really valuable if it spreads further than your own audience (followers), usually through reshares or retweets. The people reached with the original post plus the added audience through reshares, is usually called "reach". …"

Journey of your website visitors

Having a website for your business is a vital component to your marketing campaign for several reasons, such as:

  • Environmentally friendly - it's a greener way of advertising because it decreases the amount of paper you need to use to reach a multitude of people.
  • Economical – rather than needing to print off brochures, catalogues, flyers or other printed material that your graphic designer and content writer contributed to making, you can place those designs and content on your website. It decreases the cost because you can show your advertisement to people locally and throughout the world by SEO (Search Engine Optimization) efforts that you or your SEO Specialist is putting forth.

Here's what Sonia says about measuring the success of your website:

"…Website Traffic:

Since in most cases your marketing journey does not end when people land on your website, you should monitor what they do there and where they come from – even better: What do visitors from which source actually do on your site. This also helps you to decide which traffic source is the most valuable to you…"

Defining Success

As Sonia says:

"…There are many more numbers you can measure, compare and work to improve. What is the best number to proof success or failure of your marketing activity, depends on your own special definition of success and your goals…"
