Have you ever heard this question or thought that employees don't matter when it comes to SEO?

Many people underestimate the power that employees have. Your employees can be a valuable asset to your online growth of your business.

Let us chat about what reach is and what your employees can do to help themselves and your business.

To the employee

Many people underestimate the influence they have with their job. For example, if you work in a factory and your job is to work on the assembly line do you think marketing really matters or affects your job in any way? Many people do not think it does.

If the company you work for never has to seek a customer and people continuously are ordering the products you are making then that would be true. If the company you work for has any PR Department (Public Relations Department) or a marketing/advertising department then that means marketing and the way it's done can affect you and your job i.e. if you'll get a raise, have a job long-term, etc.

To the Employer

Most employers are in business for main reasons, like:

1)      To make money

2)      Make products or offer services to benefit people i.e. their customers

3)      Boost the economy – by offering jobs to people that need them

In order to achieve those things marketing plays a big factor along with reviews. Nowadays, more and more people are using smart phones or devices to conduct research before contacting or visiting a business. They typically use a search engine, like Google, Bing or Yahoo, and enter in keywords (words to describe what they're looking for) and scroll through the list presented to them. Rarely does someone go beyond page 3 for the results (think about if you use search engines-what page do you scroll through).

In order to be able to achieve the goals of your business you need to consider getting your employees involved. Why? Think about this, your employees most likely use Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. on their free time. Most likely they have built a network of friends, family and acquaintances. If they are disgruntled employees they may begin talking bad about your company on those networks and it can result in a bad reputation for your business. That can end up affecting their job if you are not able to reach quota for products to sell that may result in not being able to keep employees busy. That may result in needing to lay off employees, etc.

It's important to remember that people have a freedom of speech. However, it would benefit your employees and your business if you can get positive reviews from employees.

What can you do to get positive reviews?

·         If you sense that your employees are unhappy investigate if to find out if there is a problem.

·         Offer incentives if they share your information to their network i.e. profit share if you reach a certain quota, etc. It's important to note that Social Media is one avenue people use to generate leads for their business. A customer may first learn about you through Social Media, then read your blog, then visit your site then conduct research, then contact your business. Be fair.

·         Hire a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) expert that can help you track reviews and address them right away.
